This week will be busy as we have a full week of evaluations in most subject areas. We will have new words this week so please make sure your child is doing one page per a day. I still have students who are not doing their homework everyday...this is from Monday to Thursday also study the words on these days...2 ways to study could be writing down the words that your child does not know (memorizing the words). Dictate the words and your child can write it down.
In Language Arts, we are working out of the Write Trait booklets to build on what we have been doing such as staying on topic, and conclusion/summary of what we have been writing. In Math, we are going to be working on regrouping and burrowing numbers. If you can skip count with your child this will help develop an understanding in the times tables.
In Science we are still working on life cycle unit and in Health and Career we are working on the "ROCKS" matrix. Reading logs sheet should be in the agenda book...so students are able to write down how many minutes they are reading everyday for the month of November. Students can read all kinds of books (can be information books as long as they can read it!). Parents please initial the sheet if your child has read that day.
Remember our library time will have your child take out 2 books for take home reading ....2 other books will be in their desk to read during silent reading. If students are needing more reading materials they can return their books earlier, and sign out new books to read. Please make sure all library books are returned (4 books in all) so there are no over-due books. Students can't take out new materials if there are books that are over-due!
