We will have new spelling unit this week and in Language Arts, we are working with short stories as well as working out of the Write Trait booklet.  In Math, we will be working with regrouping and burrowing numbers with "00."  If you can skip count with your child this will help develop an understanding in the times tables.
In Science we will be presenting our habitat project...Reading logs sheet should be hand in on Friday December 1st!  Remember students can read all kinds of books (can be information books as long as they can read it!).  Parents please initial the sheet if your child has read that day.

A Reminder about Show & Tell
Show & Tell this week students are encouraged to bring one "mystery" item to share. Classmates will attempt to guess what the hidden item is by asking questions. Show and Tell items are encouraged to be "made" things, "science" things, "found" things or things related to the theme being studied at the time (TOYS ARE NOT ALLOWED). Pictures are a great way of sharing an event, family member or a pet (due to allergies NO real pets will be allowed in class). If your child is sick for his Show& Tell day, he/she will get to make up his missed day as soon as he/she returns to school. If your child forgets their Show& Tell day, he/she will be encouraged to share (Tell) about something as part of his turn. Children who forget will not be given the opportunity to "make up" Show & Tell.

Library Day
is on Wednesdays so bring  in library books by Tuesday or Wednesday morning!  Once again please make sure your child has indoor shoes to wear in the classroom.  Boots are not allowed in the classroom.

This week will be busy as we only have a short week of evaluations in most subject areas.  We will not have new spelling words this week so in Language Arts, we are working out of the Write Trait booklets to build on our writing skills.  In Math, we are going to be working on regrouping and burrowing numbers.  If you can skip count with your child this will help develop an understanding in the times tables.
In Science we are still working on life cycle unit and students are to create  a habitat in a shoe box (Diorama) and in Health and Career we are working on "Decision Making" skills.   Reading logs sheet should be in the agenda book and if you need another sheet please let me know...so students are able to write down how many minutes they are reading everyday for the month of November.  Remember students can read all kinds of books (can be information books as long as they can read it!).  Parents please initial the sheet if your child has read that day.
Remember our library time (Wednesdays) will have your child take out 2 books for take home reading ....2 other books will be in their desk to read during silent reading.  If students are needing more reading materials  they can return their books earlier, and sign out new books to read.  Please make sure all library books are returned (4 books in all) so there are no over-due books.  Students can't take out new materials if there are books that are over-due!
