It is hard to believe that May is around the corner!  We will have Spelling Unit 25 this week.  Novel study will continue with chapter 15 & 16....I still have a few report card envelopes that need to be returned....please return as soon as possible. Thanks.
In Social Studies we will continue with projects concerning Canada.  In math last week we had a quiz on 4, 5, 6, times tables as well as divisional facts ....over all students did well.  In P.E, we will begin track and field...please make sure your child has running shoes and shorts!  Permission slip for swimming went out please return by May 7 with payment ($16.00).
We start Track and Field very quickly.  We have Kamloops Track and Field coming to give the grade 4/5 classes a clinic on Shot Put, Triple Jump and High Jump on April 30 in the afternoon.  Gym strip is a must.  Please make sure your child has decent running shoes (NOT skater shoes) as the practices will be soon.  The actual rotations (where we are outside for the afternoon and the kids move to various stations) start on May 3 and continue for the following week (M, W and F).  The last rotation day is Monday, May 13 with the school track meet taking place on May 15.  (*note that the school 1500s take place on May 9th and the school 800 m run on May 10)
*This year has a very tight turnaround time for permission slips for the zone track meet.  The permission slips can't go home until Thursday, May 16 and they have to be back the very next school day......unfortunately, that is Tuesday, May 21 as our Zone Track Meet is Wednesday, May 22 (at TCC).  It'll be a pressure cooker for timing!
*Our Zone 1500s take place at Parkcrest on May 16 at 9:00 in the morning
*The district meet takes place May 29 also at TCC
Pencil in the special events in your calendar.....

Hello Everyone
We are continuing with Canadian history in Social Studies...and in Language Arts students continue to work through Chapter 15 in novel studies.  Science will see students have a better understanding of weather.  There will be no spelling words with week, however we will be working on math word problems.  Please ensure that your child is bringing back library books to the school.
As the weather gets warmer we will be doing gym classes outside, so please make sure your child has running shoes on the P.E. days.  In Health and Career we are still working through presentations...should be completed this week.
PROVINCIAL ELECTION 2013
Over the next few weeks we will learn about our system of government.  We are participating in a program called, 'Student Vote'.  The program applies the concept of the 'teachable moment' and uses the official election as a springboard for discussing current affairs and the value of democratic participation.
