This week our class will continue to practice the Christmas concert with the grade 2/3 class (Ms. Ellingsen).  The date for the Christmas concert will be December 13 and there will be a morning and afternoon performance in the gym.      Please ensure that indoor shoes accompany your child...also we have gym on Monday and Tuesday so it is safer to have non-marking running shoes in the gym.  We are continuing with spelling unit 10  and in Math students are working on regrouping, addition of 3 or 4 digit numbers.  Socials Studies we are nearing the end of our projects...I should mention that report cards are going out on November 30th, and Parent/teacher interviews will be on December 7 in the  (this day will be a half day for students).

    This time of the month means that the first term is almost done.  I am busy writing report cards which will be handed out on Nov. 30.  I also wanted to make sure that you know we are doing a Christmas concert (in a play format).  It will be performed in the morning and again in the afternoon on December 13.  There is a scholastic book fair this week on in the library.  Students can bring money to buy items on Wednesday and Thursday.  Also, for any interested parents, there is a PAC meeting on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.  This Friday at lunch the student council kids are hosting a 'games day' in the gym.  This is for board games only.  There will be a primary side and an intermediate side.  All games have to be brought from home.

    Well we are heading into the middle of November and it seems that there is so much to do!  Our Remembrance Day assembly was awesome!  Students did a great job and I am very proud of them.  This is a short week which will include the Young Peoples' Concert on Tuesday.  
    In Math we are doing a unit on addition and subtraction with two and three digits with regrouping.  In Social Studies we will be workiing with Mrs. Gorman in the library.  December will see interruptions as we have to do rehearsals for the upcoming concert (to be held on Dec. 13....two performances, one in the morning and one in the afternoon).  In P.E. we are finishing our unit on volleyball this should take the next two weeks and then moving into 'games' until the gym is closed for the concert practices.

LANGUAGE ARTS

This week we are on Spelling unit 7.   Students will continue to work on grammar and how to stay on topic while writing a paragraph.     

MATH

Students are learning to add double digit numbers and regrouping this week.  There will be a short pop quiz on times tables this week.  Students should know 0 to 8 times tables.

FINE ARTS-
Musical Instrument project due on Monday November 5th.
