In Language Arts, we will be working on staying on topic. In Math, we are in the middle of our "Time" unit. Please practice skip counting with your child as this will benefit them when we start the multiplication unit.
In Science we will begin our project on constructing a habitat. You will probably noticed your child will be asking for materials to bring to school...should be a fun project! Students should be home reading everyday and recording this information in their reading log sheet. Students can read all kinds of books (can be information books as long as they can read it!). Parents please initial the sheet if your child has read that day.
Remember our library time is on Thursdays and your child can take out 4 books in total. Two books go home for home reading ....2 other books will be in their desk to read during silent reading. If students are needing more reading materials they can return their books earlier, and sign out new books to read. Please make sure all library books are returned (4 books in all) so there are no over-due books. Students can't take out new materials if their books are over-due!
A Reminder about Show & Tell
Show & Tell this week students are encouraged to bring one "mystery" item to share. Classmates will attempt to guess what the hidden item is by asking questions. Show and Tell items are encouraged to be "made" things, "science" things, "found" things or things related to the theme being studied at the time (TOYS ARE NOT ALLOWED). Pictures are a great way of sharing an event, family member or a pet (due to allergies NO real pets will be allowed in class). If your child is sick for his Show & Tell day, he/she will get to make up his missed day as soon as he/she returns to school. If your child forgets their Show& Tell day, he/she will be encouraged to share (Tell) about something as part of his/her turn. Children who forget will not be given the opportunity to "make up" Show & Tell.
