January 26-30

     This week we are starting new sight words and home reading will continue starting on Monday.  Please make sure your child has brought back their library books as we have library exchange on Tuesday morning.  In Social Studies we are continuing with Family unit.  In science we did our first experiment for force and motion unit, and will continue with this unit this week.  You might want to ask your child what new words did we learn in Science.  In Math, we are continuing with subtraction concept...and we have started working with "time" currently we are identifying the long & short hand. 
Show & Tell
During the rest of this month only, each student is encouraged to bring ONE toy that he/she received for Christmas to show during his/her Show & Tell time.

This week is Literacy Week so students are doing a number of different activities through the week.  Monday will have students read for 20 minutes in their classroom...Drop everthing and Read (D.E.A.R).  Students can bring in a used book and exchange it for another used book (one they have not read).  Tuesday will be poem in your pocket...and so on.
