☼ In math, we are practicing partners of 10 (2+8, 7+3, 6+4, etc.). It would be great if you could review these at home.
☼ During reading/phonics, we are looking at the letter “p.” Students will be reading a book that blends “p,” “g,” “ck,” “n,” “k,” “j,” “h,” “i,” “b,” “s,” “a,” “t,” “m,” “c” and “f.”
☼ There are 5 new sight words this week: make, come, his, so and down. Please continue to practice the words that we have already learned EVERYDAY.
☼ We are learning about Fairy Tales.
Show & Tell
During this month only, each student is encouraged to bring ONE toy that he/she received for Christmas to show during his/her Show & Tell time.
Library Books
Library books/bags must be returned to our class’ yellow bin (just inside our class door) by WEDNESDAY. If your child is done with his/her books early, please return them at that time. Let’s work hard to prevent overdue books this year.
Change of Clothes
We have recently begun the “wet field” season at Haldane. Students are returning from recess/lunch completely soaked. Please send a complete change of clothes (including socks) to school in a plastic bag with your son/daughter’s name on it. It will stay in the classroom for emergencies.
I am very excited to see many grade one students starting to change reading levels. If your son/daughter has not yet moved to level 3 (or higher), the best way to help your child be a successful reader is to practice sight words and home reading DAILY.
